Keith Gerald van der Wat was not primarily a filmmaker, but during the early 1970s he was nevertheless active in the industry.  He wrote the screenplays of ''[[Three Bullets… for a Long Gun]]'' (1971) and ''[[They Call Me Lucky]]'' (1973) for [[Peter Henkel]] and also wrote three of the four films he directed himself.  In addition he acted in both of Henkel’s films, taking the role of the disreputable Lucky Gomez, as well as in his own ''[[Cry Me a Teardrop]]'' (1974).  After just five years in the industry he became a businessman and ran Keith G. van der Wat Investments in Durban.

Biography

Keith Gerald van der Wat was not primarily a filmmaker, but during the early 1970s he was nevertheless active in the local industry. He wrote the screenplays of Three Bullets… for a Long Gun (1971) and They Call Me Lucky (1973) for Peter Henkel and also wrote three of the four films he directed himself. In addition he acted in both of Henkel’s films, taking the role of the disreputable Lucky Gomez, as well as in his own Cry Me a Teardrop (1974). After just five years in the industry he became a businessman and ran Keith G. van der Wat Investments in Durban.
