Die Mugu is a play by Pieter Fourie (1940-2021)
The word "mugu" means something like "the fool" - it is a slang term found in many languages in South Africa, including English, and apparently originates from a Nigerian Pidgin term meaning "Big fool".

In 2003 PACOFS commissioned Fourie to adapt Etienne Leroux's novel Die Mugu for the stage. Because of the chaos of transformation surrounding the performing arts council at the time, the play was never done however, though the playwright was paid for the text. Not published.
