The Dear Departed is a one act farce by Stanley Houghton [1] (1881-1913).

First produced at the Gaiety Theatre, Manchester on 2 November 1908.
Translations and adaptations
Translated into Afrikaans as Oupa Saliger by Stephanie Fauré and published in the collection Lank mag sy Lewe en ander Eenbedrywe by J.L. van Schaik (1952, also containing the translations into Afrikaans of Send Her Victorious by Philip Johnson (Lank Mag sy Lewe), Honeymoon Couple by Neil Forbes Grant (Die Jonggetroudes), and Keep Calm by Louis Goodrich (Bly Kalm).
Possibly translated as In Liefdevolle Herinnering ("In loving memory") by an unknown author.
Translated as Die Geliefde Ontslapene and adapted for radio by Eghard van der Hoven. Broadcast in the programme in Kleinteater by the Afrikaans Service of the SABC. Copies of the SABC script found in the radio archives of the Stellenbosch Drama Department.
Performance history in South Africa
