He was born on February 1, 1969 in New Haven, Connecticut, USA. He has been married to Maura Chwastyk since October 20, 2001.
Career
Wetmore has degrees from Bates College, the University of Leeds and the University of Pittsburgh, where he completed his doctorate in Theatre and Performance Studies.
He is currently a professor of theatre arts at Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, USA. His areas of expertise include Japanese theatre, African theatre, Shakespeare, Greek tragedy, stage combat and comedy and as a writer works on theatre history and criticism, world theatre and film.
As an actor, director, stage combat choreographer, and comedian he has worked in Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, New York, New Haven, New England, old England and South Africa. His film work includes Day of the Dead 2: Contagium (2005) Valley of Angels (2008), Judgement Date (2009), Night of the Templar (2013).
As sole author his writings include Black Dionysus: Greek Tragedy and African American Theatre (McFarland, 2003),
