She was born on 23 July 1956 in Port Elizabeth.
Youth
Training
She graduated from the University of Pretoria with a BA degree. She studied drama at the University of the Free State.
Career
She started her theatre career in January 1979 at CAPAB

As a student she performed in Agter Geslote Deure (1978).
As a professional performer she appeared in Kinkels innie Kabel (as Adriana; her first role in 1979) , Die Wonderwerk (1979), a NAPAC/Brickhill-Burke production of Christian, Die Lewe is 'n Grenshotel, Oh What a Lovely War! (PACT 1980), Met Permissie Gesê (1981), Siener in die Suburbs (1981), Hell is for Whites Only (aka ’’Beyond All Reason’’) (1982), The Dining Room (1983), Forbidden Fruits (1983), The Runner Stumbles (1985), Jerry's Girls (1985), State of the Heart (1995), The Incredible Journey of Tinkerbell van Tonder (1995), the solo cabaret performance 'n Vuur Gevang in Glas (1997), Strydom en Zietsman in Alfabetiese Volgorde (KKNK 2000), The Vagina Monologues (2002).Kerse teen die donker a CD.
Amanda had a part in the female version, adapted for radio, of Die Nag van Legio, broadcast on RSG's series Radioteater in celebration of the playwright's 80th birthday (2014).
She acted in the films Jock: A True Tale of Friendship, released in 1994 and Pas Getroud.
