The World of Suzie Wong [1] is a 1957 novel by British novelist Richard Mason (1919–1997) [2]. It tells the story of a young English artist, Robert Lomax, who lives in Hong Kong in the 1950's and Suzie Wong, a Chinese prostitute.

Translations and adaptations
The novel has been adapted into a play, a film and a ballet.
Paul Osborn (1901-1988) [3], American playwright and screenwriter wrote scren and stage adaptations of the novel. His stage adaptation, also called The World of Suzie Wong, was first staged in 1958.
Performance history in South Africa
In South Africa the play was presented by the Brian Brooke Company circa 1961.
