The Sea Anchor is a play by British playwright E.A. Whitehead [1] (born 1933) (also known as Ted Whitehead). The play is about a group of people on a somewhat forlorn ‘dirty weekend’ who wait vainly on the Irish coast for the arrival by dinghy of a friend whose frustrations may or may not have brought him to suicide.
First produced at the Royal Court Theatre, London, 1974.
Published by Faber and Faber, 1975.
Performance history in South Africa
Staged at The Space (Cape Town) circa 1976, directed, co-designed (with Bee Berman ) and lit by Dimitri Nicolas-Fanourakis, with Allen Ambor, Avril Bee, Charles Comyn and Petronella Whitfield. The stage manager was Richard Morrison.
