Gulls, by the Australian playwright Robert Hewett (1949-*). The play deals with a middle-aged man who had brain damage as a youngster. He is tended by his sister.
Performance history in South Africa
Directed by Keith Grenville for CAPAB and Volute Productions opening 17 July 1987 at the Nico Malan Theatre, starring Ron Smerczak as Bill, Diane Wilson (Frances), Jeremy Taylor (Dan), Joy Stewart-Spence (Molly) and Mark Hoeben and André Roothman as the puppeteers. Designed by Dicky Longhurst, lighting design by Malcolm Hurrell, puppets by Adrian Kohler of the Handspring Puppet Company. In 1991 William Egan directed the play for PACOFS starring Ernst Eloff as Bill, Marga van Rooy as his sister, Dan was played by Pieter Brand and Molly by Wilna Snyman with performances at the Civic Theatre Bloemfontein, Kimberley Theatre and Civic Theatre Kroonstad.
