This comic extravaganza, written by Ron House, Diz White, Alan Shearman and John Neville-Andrews and first produced in 1971. El Grande de Coca Cola is a comedy that deals with a wannabe theatre impresario who decides to stage a cabaret with his inexperienced family as cast after receiving sponsorship from a soft drink company - with hilarious consequences. In 1973, the Mexican cabaret-parody El Grande de Coca Cola made its premiere off-Broadway.
PACT staged a revival of El Grande de Coca Cola with direction by Michael Richard and starring Elizabeth Rae, Wilson Dunster, Gillian Harris, Etienne Puren and Alan Goldstein in the Arena Theatre, Rosebank in 1979.
Presented by CAPAB in a double bill with Donkerwerk is Konkelwerk opening 27 February 1980, starring Neville Thomas, David van der Merwe, Paul Slabolepszy, Johan Malherbe, Brümilda van Rensburg, Grethe Fox, Christo Potgieter, Marga van Rooy and Neels Coetzee. Directed by Robert Mohr, decor and costumes by Bruno Santini, lighting by Leon Benzakein.
