[[CAPAB]]'s first production of an indigenous play was this historical drama built around the character of Willem Adriaan van der Stel. It opened at the [[Hofmeyr Theatre]] on 22 August 1964. The director was [[Ria le Roux]], the wife of Prof [[Fred le Roux]], and an actress in her own right under her maiden name, [[Ria Olivier]]. There were 28 performances of ''Vergelegen'' at 15 venues in places like Saldanha, Malmesbury, Robertson, Piketberg and Clanwilliam. It was seen by 7 516 people. [[Fred le Roux]] played the part of Van der Heiden, [[Paul Malherbe]] that of Van der Stel. Others in the cast were [[Herman Steytler]], [[Fanie Bekker]], [[Johan Grobler]],[[Jurie Hanekom]] and [[Bertie van der Merwe]].
