The Afrikaans text published in Nuwe Eenbedrywe (“New One-act Plays”, ed Gerhard J. Beukes) by J.L. van Schaik in 1952. First performed [in English or Afrikaans?*] by the Trafalgar Players in 1954. It was a prescribed book for many years, also for black schools in South Africa in 1974-76. The English text, Bitter Road, is contained in the collection A Time for Compassion by Paul Roubaix (Troronto: Culturama, 1978).
