The original text
The play explores the comedic and often exasperating dynamics of a self-absorbed partner — the quintessential "selfish/egoist" gentleman — whose rigid routines, hatred for disorder, and supreme self-interest dictate the lives of those around him.
First staged in the early 1970s in Paris, follwowed by a number of other productions.
