Queenstown Town Hall was a civic venue on Cathcart Road in Queenstown, now Komani.
The building
The corner-stone was laid in May 1882. The sandstone building was designed by architect Sydney Stent, and was built on the site of the original town hall that had been erected in 1858.
On the night of 31 January 2022 the building burnt to the ground. In 2025, the building was still a burnt-out shell.
Productions
A number of productions and events have been staged here, including:
1896: Mark Twain performed his At Home there in June 1896.
In the late 1960s and 1970, the venue was used for amateur performances by the Queenstown Theatrical Society. Productions included Guys and Dolls.
1984: On June 16, 1984, The Gingerbread Lady, produced by Helen Mann was also staged at this venue.
1996: It was still being used as a theatre, inter alia by the Round Table for their annual Melodrama fundraiser
