The original tale

The story first appeared in 21, a collection of Rabie's stories and published by Human & Rousseau in 1956.

Adaptations and translations

In 2024 the tale was recorded for broadcast by Luisterverhale, as a project undertaken by Katinka Heyns and Sonneblom Ateljees, in partnership with LitNet and sponsored by the Dagbreek Trust. (The Luisterverhale project seeks to have short stories by well known Afrikaans authors are read by professional actors for transmission.)
