Mephisto is Ariane Mnouchkine's (born 1939 [1]) adaptation for the stage of Klaus Mann's novel. Taking place between 1923 to 1936, the play chronicles the rise and impact of Nazism on the members of a theatre company. Translated by Timberlake Wertenbaker.
