Mephisto is Ariane Mnouchkine's (born 1939 [1]) adaptation for the stage of Klaus Mann's novel. Taking place between 1923 to 1936, the play chronicles the rise and impact of Nazism on the members of a theatre company. Translated by Timberlake Wertenbaker.

2010: The Mechanicals production directed by Christopher Weare. With Nicholas Ellenbogen, Scott Sparrow, Tinarie van Wyk-Loots and Emily Child. Arena Theatre, Cape Town.

2014: Chris Weare directing a large cast, Arena Theatre.
