In 1941 he did Dagbreek (Wynand du Preez), for the Krugersdorp Municipal Dramatic and Operatic Society (Dir. Hermien Dommisse). Then became a member of the Pierre De Wet Toneelgeselskap (with Paula Styger, Anna Neethling-Pohl and Gert van den Bergh) which toured South Africa in 1944.
