The original text
Richard and Julia are in their 50s/60s and recently divorced. Both are beginning to look for new partners by going out on blind dates. The play follows them through a series of unexpected, eccentric and volatile romantic liaisons - where absolutely nothing goes to plan.
The play had its premiere productions in the 2024/25 season in Warsaw, Prague, Rio de Janeiro and Berlin.
Translations and adaptations
Translated into Afrikaans as Vlerksleep ("dating") by Frans Swart, the names of the main characters changed to "Anton" and "Louise".
Performance history in South Africa
2025: Performed in Afrikaans at the Fairtree Atterbury Theatre op 5, 6 and 8 June, produced by Lefra Productions, directed by Frans Swart, with David James ("Anton"), Elma Potgieter ("Louise"), Richard van der Westhuizen and Bertha le Roux-Wahl.
