Krapp's Last Tape is a one-act play written in English by Samuel Beckett (1906–1989) [1].
Contents
The original text
The play was first performed as a curtain raiser to Endgame (from 28 October to 29 November 1958) at the Royal Court Theatre, London, directed by Donald McWhinnie and starring Patrick Magee. Later translated into French by the author as La Dernière Bande.
Performance history in South Africa
1961: Performed by the African Music and Drama Association's Rehearsal Room, with "Krapp" played by Athol Fugard.
1963: Presented by the University of Cape Town's UCT Dramatic Society at the Little Theatre in August, directed by Edwin Polakow,
1967: Produced by Athol Fugard in a double bill with The Third Degree, Rhodes University Theatre.
1974: Performed at the University of Cape Town, directed by Craig Curtis, with Peter Curtis as "Krapp".
Feb 1982 - Directed by Charles Comyn Cast : Dale Cutts.
1987: CAPAB, 1987, performed with Endgame in the Nico Arena at the Market Theatre.
