History
Founded in 1925 when RA Shooter joins LG Shuter as new co-owners of the bookstore Vause, Slatter & Co., in Pietermaritzburg, changing the name to Shuter & Shooter at this time. The company soon began to focus on educational material and in 1930 they also begin publishing isiZulu novels, poetry, plays and textbooks. They would later also include other indigenous South African languages[1], including English and Afrikaans in their portfolio.
