Biography
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
He has toured with his plays and puppet shows through large parts of the country, inter alia performing at the Grahamstown Festival and various schools and churches throughout the Cape Flats.
He has also run workshops and did shows for children of various ages.
His works include Wat is Vryheid?, a poem , performed in die Arena at the Nico Malan Theatre.
A copy of an incomplete typed playtext called Wie de hel is Johnny P. Adams en waarom sing hy die Blues?, credited to Melvin Whitebooi and Joseph Mitchell, was found in the Stellenbosch Drama Department archives in 2022. Possibly this was another Joseph Mitchell, since in a letter to this ESAT on 22 April, 2023, Mitchell denies ever having worked with Witbooi on a play.
