Performed in Meropa, King Kong, African Odyssey, The Crucible (with PACT), Barnum (1983), Showboat (PACT, 1985); Mayibuye iAfrica (The Warehouse, 1987), King Afrika (Standard Bank Arena, 1988), Baby, Come Duze (The Warehouse, 1990).

She was one of the judges in the M Net Idols competition.

Mara received two lifetime achievement awards. Her autobiography It's Me, Mara was published in 2016.
