Betésda is a site-specific play by Nicola Hanekom.

The original text

Designed to be staged in and around a swimming pool, the play is part of an award-winning trilogy of site specific plays, the other two plays being Lot and Babbel.

They were first performed in 2011.

Translations and adaptations

Performance history in South Africa

2010: It was first performed at the KKNK, directed by Hanekom, with Brian Webber, Mark Elderkin, Gretha Brazelle, Neels van Jaarsveld, Bronwyn van Graan, Stian Bam, Eben Genis and Carishma Basday.

2012: The same production was later staged by the State Theatre at the Hillcrest swimming pool in Pretoria.
