Born on 18 August in Charlottenburg, Berlin. She arrived in Cape Town in March 1937, where she founded a photographic studio. Fischer was the ‘official photographer’ for a number of companies, including the University of Cape Town’s [[Little Theatre]] (circa 1937 and 1965), the [[Brian Brooke Company]] in Cape Town (1947 to circa 1955) and Leonard Schach’s [[Cockpit Players]] (1956 to 1962) and [[NTO]] (1947-1961). She also photographed [[CAPAB]] productions during the 1960s. Her theatre photography encompassed both documentation of stage productions and the portraiture of theatre personalities and performers. Her theatre collection, originally donated to the [[National Documentation Centre for the Performing Arts]] (later [[CESAT]]) it is now housed by the theatre collection of the State Archives in Pretoria. Fischer died in Cape Town in 1986. [Pam Warne]
