The Innocents is a play written by William Archibald [1] (1917-1970)

The original text

Based on the novel The Turn of the Screw by Henry James. The play premiered on Broadway in 1950.

Performance history in South Africa

1953: A Brian Brooke Company production was produced by Gwen ffrangçon-Davies starring herself and Marda Vanne in 1953 at the Hofmeyr Theatre in Cape Town and subsequently at the Alhambra Theatre in Durban for African Theatres. The roles of the children were taken by Nicholas Wright and Sylvia Byker.

196?: Directed by Bob Tucker for the Repertory Amateur Players Society in Johannesburg, from 11 - 20 February [196?].

1964: Produced by the Dramatic Society of East London, 1964.
