The Plagued Professor is an interlude written by Cresswell Esq. ()[].

The original text
Described as "An Original Interlude expressly written for this occasion" with "characters by members of the Royal Alfred Club" in Cape Town.
Laidler (1926, p.105) ascribes the play to either Mr. St George or to Mr Chester, but Bosman (1980, p.157) argues for Cole on the basis of an article in the Cape Argus of 16 February, 1861, which refers to the author as "the author of Idylls of a Prince", i.e. A.W Cole.
The text was ever published it seems.

1861: Performed as The Plagued Professor on 18 February in the Cabinet Theatre, Cape Town, by the Cape Town Dramatic Club with The Unfinished Gentleman (Selby) and Duchess or Nothing (Gordon).
