Naelstring ('n band tussen twee teaterstrominge) ("Umbilical Cord - a link between two theatre trends") is a symbolic play in Afrikaans by Pieter Fourie (1940-).

Utilising the relationship between a mother and her child in dealing with issues of transformation and empowerment.

2001: First produced in Afrikaans by Rooderant Produksies at the Aardklop festival in Potchefstroom on 2 October 2001, directed by Gaerin Hauptfleisch, with Abduragman Adams and Lindie Stander. Published in 2001 by Protea Boekehuis. Translated into English and

2001: First produced in English by Rooderant Produksies at the Grahamstown Festival in July 2001, also directed by Gaerin Hauptfleisch with the same cast.
