Kamertoneel as concept

An Afrikaans term (taken from the Dutch, and litwerally meaning “room theatre”, or "cabinet theatre") was utilized in the 1950's and 1960's to refer to intimate, experimental theatre (especially referring to companies and spaces). The best known perjhaps was the NTO Kamertoneel company (1958-1961).
