Les Deux Francs-maçons, ou Les Coups du Hazard ("The two Freemasons, or the 'lacerations' of chance") is a French 3-act tragedy by Benoît Pelletier-Volméranges (1756-1824)[1].


The original text

First performed Paris, at the Théâtre de l'Impératrice et Reine (1808-1818), 25th May 1808.

Translations and adaptations

Translated into Dutch as De Twee Vrijmetselaars by Cornelis van der Vijver, of the Published in Amsterdam, 1808.


Performance history in South Africa

1834: Performed in Stellenbosch (as De Twee Vrymetselaars) on 8 November 1834 by Het Hollandsche Tooneellievend en Vereenigd Muzyk Gezelschap, with the musical comedy 't Zal laat Worden (Meyer)
