Biography
He was born on Hainan Island, South China. He completed his schooling in England. Eric first came to South Africa in 1975 to play in A Little Night Music, returning five years later to star in Middle Age Spread and to settle permanently.

He studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
Career
He joined the Royal Shakespeare Company, taking to the borads at Stratford, the Aldwych and the Old Vic. He continued to mix straight and musical roles in venues all over England and the West End. His film credits include ‘’Exodus’’, ‘’Silent Invasion and Robin Hood.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
He starred in A Little Night Music, October 1975 at His Majesty's Theatre, Middle Age Spread at the André Huguenet Theatre in October 1980, Evita (as Che) staged at the Pretoria State Theatre and the Johannesburg Civic Theatre in 1981, 84 Charing Cross Road (as "Frank Doel") at the Market Theatre in April 1982, The Night of the Iguana (as "Shannon") for PACT at the Alexander Theatre in 1983.
He directed and starred in the opening production of Pieter Toerien’s Leonard Rayne Theatre namely Side by Side by Sondheim together with Andre Hattingh and Dianne Chandler opening 18 July 1983.
