South African Theatre Union (SATU - Afrikaans: Suid-Afrikaanse Teaterunie) was the new name given to the South African Actors' Equity (Afrikaans: Suid-Afrikaanse Akteursekwiteitsvereniging) in 1969.

The Union owned a hall, the SATU Saal or SATU Hall, often used for performances, inter alia of the PACT compnies.

In 1982 it expanded to include film activities and became the South African Film and Theatre Union (SAFTU - Afrikaans: Suid-Afrikaanse Film-en Teaterunie)
