History

Established in 1927.

In 1968, to accommodate the College’s secondary education departments more effectively, the East London Technical and Commercial High School was established. In 1974 that school split into two high schools – Port Rex Technical High School in Vincent and Commercial High School in Stirling. In January 1985, Commercial High changed its name to Stirling High School.

The East London Technical College was later renamed the East London FET College.

East London Technical College Drama Club

The East London Technical College Drama Club was established circa 1946 by Mary Howe. The club was involved in providing local theatre entertainment in the city. The Drama Club performed straight plays, plays by Shakespeare, and presented dance shows.
