In 1978 she played the role of "Isabella" in the Afrikaanse Studiekring (ASK) production of Marlene van Niekerk's one-act play Die Duiwel, Sy Handlanger en die Drie Ligtekooie ("The Devil, his helper and the three prostitutes". (Wrongly billed as Marieta van der Vyver in the programme.)

Her 1992 novel Griet Skryf 'n Sprokie was adapted as a very successful play by Pierre van Pletzen and performed at various theatres and festivals in 1997, directed by Lizz Meiring.
