[[Mr Welsh]] (''fl.'' mid 19th century) was a Cape Town resident and theatre enthusiast. 

== Biography ==

His profession was that of a cooper in Cape Town, where he owned some properties, including a home in Buitekant Street.  

==Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance==

He owned vacant premises in Harrington Street, just above Boom Street, which he let to [[Sefton Parry]] for the building of a temporary theatre that opened on 14 September, 1857, as the [[Harrington Street Theatre]]. 

Welsh himself was a founding member of the [[Cape Town Theatrical Club]] (later to become the [[Cape Town Dramatic Club]]), which was founded at his residence in Buitekant Street, Cape Town, in 1857 or 1858.
