Translated into ''[[Dutch]] as [[De Belagchelycke Tooneelzucht Of De Liefhebbery Comedie, In De War]]'' (approx. "the silly theatrical sigh, or amateur theatre in confusion"), by Ward Bingley (1757- 1818) and published in Amsterdam by Pieter Johannes Uylenbroek in 1794.

== Performance history in South Africa ==

1869: A play called ''[[De Liefhebbery Comedie in de War]]'', ascribed to A.A. van der Stempel,  was performed by [[Aurora]] II on 8 July in the [[Germania Hall]], Cape Town, with  ''[[Het Origineele Testament]]'' ([[Melt J. Brink|Brink]]). This '''may''' have been an abridged version of, or a parody on, the [[Dutch]] version of the French play by De Théis.
