You Can Make a Difference is a short environmental play by an anonymous author.

The original text

Seeming to have been inspired by Peter Snyders's Afrikaans poem Ek is oek important ("I am also important") and featuring a Boy, a Girl, four Rappers and a Cleaner, and a number of Demonstrators, the play addresses the need to do something about cleaning up the environment, instead of just talking or demonstrating about it.

Translations and adaptations

Performance history in South Africa

An annotated copy of the typed text, found in the Stellenbosch Drama Department archives, contains commentary notes in pencil on the performers and the performance. Appearing to be notes by an adjudicator, they suggest that the piece was written for a youth drama event of some kind.
