Yawazzi Theatre Productions

Also simply referred to as Yawazzi

Yawazzi Theatre Productions was founded by (Jon Keevy and Sanjin Muftic). It combines traditional theatre practice with cutting edge design and programming. Since 2009 its home base has been a space called Tabula Rasa. Indeed, the space is versatile and alive with possibilities. Yawazzi has created original and highly acclaimed works including; ‘The Life and Work of Pedrovic Petar’ (2007). Find them at 41 Glynn Street.

Tabula Rasa

A laundry by day and a cabaret venue by night, at 41 Glynn Street (corner Upper Canterbury and Glynn Street) Gardens, Cape Town. Tabula Rasa is an 'underground' theatre venue that opened its doors in November of 2009 as a collaboration between laundry owners Alison Hughes and Marcus Hoelper and the Yawazzi Theatre Productions team of Jon Keevy and Sanjin Muftic. Hidden above International Panelbeaters on the corner of Glynn and Canterbury, Tabula Rasa is an intimate performance venue with an atmosphere as fresh as the clean laundry.


In 2010 Godfrey Johnson (The Shadow of Brel) and Pieter-Dirk Uys performed there.

Yawazzi Fish Tank

and they run the Yawazzi Fish Tank, an internet blog on their activities and theatre matters. They combines traditional theatre practice with cutting edge design and programming. The space is called ‘Tabula Rasa’, which literally means, ‘blank slate’. Indeed, the space is versatile and alive with possibilities. Yawazzi has created original and highly acclaimed works including; The Life and Work of Pedrovic Petar (2007).
