When Swallows Cry is a hard-hitting trilogy of playlets that explores the inequities and layered complexities of contemporary global mobility, particularly from African perspectives.

The play was translated into Greek, and was performed in Athens from the last weekend of March 2019.

Performance history in South Africa

2017: First produced at the Market Theatre (13 January to 5 February), directed by Lesedi Job, with Warren Masemola, Christiaan Schoombie and Mpho Osei-Tutu. Subsequently presented at the Baxter Theatre (30 January-24 February 2018) with Marty Kintu, Kai Luke Brummer and Mbulelo Grootboom.

2018: Presented at the National Arts Festival (Fringe, 29 June-4 July 2018). The play has also had one-off shows in Malmo, Sweden (May 2018), Ethiopia (September 2018), Geneva, Zurich and Tubingen (November 2018), Kampala (November 2018), China (December 2018)
