Vergeltung ("Retribution") is a German tragedy in five acts by Johann Friedrich Kind (1768-1843)[1].

Published in Volume 3 of Neueste deutsche Schaubühne, 1806

Translations and adaptations

Translated into Dutch as De Regtvaardige Vergelding ("The just retribution") and styled "een tafereel naar het leven" ("a tapestry of life"), the Dutch text was published in the collection Gezellig Onderhoud voor den Beschaafden Stand by A. Klootz, Gravenhage, 1833.

Performance history in South Africa

1875: Performed as De Regtvaardige Vergelding in the Athenaeum Hall, Cape Town on 22 October by the Rederijkerskamer Aurora II, with De Hoogste Wensch (De Regt).
