The Vereeniging Operatic and Dramatic Society (VODS) is an amateur dramatics society.

History

The Vereeniging Operatic and Dramatic Society was officially established in Vereeniging in June 1961, when there was a great need for a society that could cater to bilingual productions also a choir. “It was very interesting when later a research of cultural activities in the early years of the town disclosed that a society called 'Vereeniging Operatic and Dramatic Society' existed and flourished during the 1930s and 1940s." - Tienie van Wyk (founding member).

Enthusiastic members of the public, namely, Adolf Theron, Tienie van Wyk and Eris Malan saw a need for a society that could cater to productions. They called a meeting, and 50+ enthusiasts attended. VODS was officially established at the first Annual General Meeting held in June 1961, with Adolf Theron being elected as the first Chairman of VODS.

The society is currently operational (2026).
