Vaselinetjie by Hugo Taljaard (19**-)

Vaselinetjie is an Afrikaans South African drama adapted by Hugo Taljaard from the award-winning bestselling novel by Anoeschka von Meck. It follows Vaselinetjie's experience of life in a children's home marked by emotional neglect, but also by human humour and romance.

Adapted by Hugo Taljaard from the novel Vaselinetjie by Anoeschka von Meck. The adaptation had sold out at arts festivals around the country.

Performance history in South Africa

2012: Staged at the US Woordfees, Stellenbosch, directed by Henry Mylne, in the Spier Amfiteater, on 8, 9 and 10 March, on the Sanlam Dramafees programme. The cast included Robbie Klay, Andrea Streso, David Louw, Ingrid Paulus, Theodore Jantjies, Elma Postma and Hugo Taljaard.

2017: Film. Writers Corné van Rooyen and René van Rooyen. Director Corné van Rooyen. Producers Danie Bester and Saskia Schiel. Cast Marguerite van Eeden, Nicole Bond, Shaleen Surtie-Richards, Royston Stoffels, Arno Greeff, Elzet Nel, [Elani Dekker]], Marise Nel, Anchen du Plessis, Daniah de Villiers.Production Houses The Film Factory and Red Letter Day Pictures.
