Vanweë die Gedagte ("Because of the thought") is a one-act play by Ralston Oliphant (1983-).

The original text
Written as part of a playwriting course in the Drama Department at Stellenbosch University, it set on a station platform and takes the form of conversations between various characters waitung for the train to Stellenbosch. The various conversations shed light on the lives of "coloured" people after the new dispensation of 1994.
The text is unpublished. A copy of the typed text found in the Stellenbosch Drama Department archives in 2022. found in the Stellenbosch Drama Department's theatre archives and now held in the Performing Arts Research Collection (PARC) at the Africa Open Institute for Music, Research and Innovation, with offices at Pieter Okkers House, 7 Joubert Street, Stellenbosch, South Africa.
