The Yearning of My Heart is a full-length musical play by Paul Roubaix (1920-2005)

Also referred to as Yearning of My Heart in some sources.

The original text

Set in the mythical state of Utellus, where an inferior citizen (an "Infra") with a musical talent has a forbidden relationship with a superior citizen (a "Super").

First performed as a play reading by the Theatre Workshop at the Little Theatre, Cape Town in 1958. The text published in a collection called A Time for Compassion. Biko’s World in Six Plays in 1978 (Toronto, Culturama Incorporated), with an introduction by Frank Birbalsingh.

Performance history in South Africa

1958: Performed as a play reading by the Theatre Workshop at the Little Theatre, Cape Town, with a cast consisting of i.a. Pietro Nolte, Percy Sieff, Leonard Daniels, George Veldsman and Rasheda Rassool.
