The World of Dorothy Parker
The World of Dorothy Parker is a recording of Dorothy Parker (1893-1967)[1] reading her own writings, as well as the title of a stage production based on the writings of the American author and celebrity.

The Recording
In 1964 Dorothy Parker herself read a selection of her stories and poems for a recording issued on vinyl in the USA by Verve Records (No.V-15029).[2] The works included are "I Live On Your Visits", "Arrangement In Black & White", "Book Review" and the four verses: "Partial Comfort", "Bohemia", "Coda" and "War Song".
According to the Dorothy Parker Society website, "(A)t the time of the recording sessions, Mrs. Parker was in her sixties and seventies. Her voice ravaged by years of Chesterfields, this offers a peek at the real Mrs. Parker. She died three years after recording her second LP. Special thanks to Jon Snyder and Catherine Chodack for loaning me their LPs."[3]
