The Sum of Us

The Sum of Us is a play by Australian writer and director David Stevens (born 1940 in Palestine) [1]. It is the third play in his now completed A Currency Trilogy of which the first play is The Inn at the Beginning of the World. The second play is The Beast and the Beauty produced by the Old Mill Theatre, Perth, on 22 June 2012.

The original text

The play, directed by Kevin Dowling, opened on October 16, 1990 at the Off-Broadway Cherry Lane Theatre, where it ran for 335 performances.

Performance history in South Africa

1992: Presented by Pieter Toerien, directed by Maralin Vanrenen, starring herself (A Divorced Woman), Clive Scott (The Father) , Gary d'Alessandro (His Son) and Warren Batchelor (A Young Man). Lighting designed by Jannie Swanepoel, set designed by Anne Carghill. The play opened at the Richard Haines Theatre on 24 April and the Theatre on the Bay 18 August 1992.
