The Most Happy Fella [1] is a 1956 Broadway musical with a book, music, and lyrics by Frank Loesser (1910-1969) [2].

The original text

The story, about a romance between an older man and younger woman, is based on the 1924 play They Knew What They Wanted [3] by Sidney Howard (1891–1939) [4].

1962: Staged by the JODS at the Civic Theatre in November, directed by Anthony Farmer, with Edwin Steffe (Tony), Michael McGovern (Joe), Olive King (Rosabella), June Hern (Cleo), Peter Lynsky (Herman), Fanny Hilson (Marie) and others. Musical direction by Derrick Lewis, choreography by Gerard Nel, décor by Anthony Farmer and costumes by Connie Reid.
