The Mantis and the Moon is a children's story from Marguerite Poland's 1979 award-winning collection of stories inspired by African oral traditions.

Translations and adaptations

Adapted by Moira Katz (2025) in a double bill with Poland's Stubby the Caterpillar.

Performance history in South Africa

1981: An adaptation by H. Britten presented by Durban Theatre Foundation Academy, directed by Sandra Herrington.

2025: Presented by National Children's Theatre in a double bill with Poland's Stubby the Caterpillar, directed by Ivor Jones.
