The Lounge: Place of Anticipation is a physical theatre piece written by Lanon Carl Prigge.

The original text

Termed "A Self-discovery Cyber-quest by Lanon Prigge" by the author, it is further outlined as a narrative that "explores issues of meaning and identity" and "tackles ... contemporary issues of spirituality and belonging in a changing world where many of us are no longer satisfied with simply earning a living but are more concerned with doing 'life-work'."

The piece was commissioned by the University of Stellenbosch Drama Department for performance by the students.

Performance history in South Africa

2002: Performed by students of the University of Stellenbosch Drama Department in the H.B. Thom Theatre 20-23 and 26-27 March, directed by Lanon Prigge, assisted by Cornelia Faasen. The large cast consisted of Jan-Hendrik Opperman, Hykie Berg, Hilda van Lill, Debi Wells, Yanou Ceulers, Anneke Villet, Nina Sabbagha, Pascal Neuschäfer, Yvonne Pedretti, Mauritz Grundlingh, Luzanne Hansen, Anneke Senekal, Riandi Visser, Deon van Zyl, Michael Jozefowicz, Johan Nel, Trudy Gunther, Robyn Peté, Maryka Vorster, Liezel du Toit, Janna Austin and Kim Taylor. The creative and technical crew of the production included Liza Shaw (production manager), Lindy-Ann Downing (stage manager), Carine Bothma (sound design), Nicholas Myburgh (lighting design), Leigh-Robyn Myburgh (set and props design), Teri Jedeikin (costume design) and Larisa van Zyl (make-up design).
