The Great Gatsby is a 1925 novel written by American author F. Scott Fitzgerald that follows a cast of characters living in the fictional town of West Egg on prosperous Long Island in the summer of 1922.

Performance history in South Africa

19**: PACT presented the Peter Terry adaptation directed by Craig Freimond at the Alexander Theatre and the Arena, Pretoria, starring Susan Danford (Daisy), Stephen Jennings (Gatsby), David Butler, David Clatworthy, Emma-Jane Mezher, Mitzi Booysen, Michael McCabe, Alistair Prodgers, Dale Cutts, David Dukas, Lisa Morris. Stage manager Kobus Rossouw.

circa 2000: A UCT production was directed by Blaise Koch starring Matthew Wild.

2011: A production by The Mechanicals in the Little Theatre was directed by Luke Ellenbogen starring Scott Sparrow, Nicholas Pauling, Emily Child, Kate Liquorish, Andrew Laubscher, Deborah Vieyra, Adrian Collins and Mikkie-dene le Roux.
