The City of Paradise is a workshopped play by Mark Fleishman and Cast.


The original text

It is a retelling of the Greek story of the house of Atreus looking at issues of vengeance and justice in SA post-TRC, originally created in 1998, during the time of the TRC, in workshop facilitated by Mark Fleishman, with students at UCT.

Performance history in South Africa

1998: Performed by UCT students, directed by Mark Fleishman.

2015: Presented by Magnet Theatre, directed by Mark Fleishman, assisted by Jennie Reznek, with a cast consisting of trainees on the 2014/2015 Magnet Theatre Full time Training and Job Creation Program, and professional actress Indalo Stofile as Clytaemnestra. Designed by Mark Fleishman, Themba Stewart and Craig Leo.
