The Challenge Dance

The Challenge Dance is the name of a Christy's style Minstrel dance routine done by the Amateur Coloured Troupe in the 1870s in Cape Town. Billed as a "Nigger Scene" in the Cape Town performance.

Based on the tradition of "challenge dances" brought over to South Africa by the Christy's Minstrels.
